Dr Chidambaram Prakash is the Principal Hospital Psychiatrist (clinical lead for hospital based mental health services) at RCH. He is also the clinical leader for the suicide interventions programs within RCH Mental Health. His special interests include neuropsychiatry, suicide interventions, providing expert consultations to GPs, Paediatricians and allied health staff and the management of patients with severe neurodevelopmental disorders.

“I’m delighted to be a part of the Campus Mental Health Strategy. It is an excellent initiative to upskill, train, inform and equip health care staff across disciplines to assess and manage mild to moderate mental health problems in children and adolescents thereby taking mental health care to the children and adolescents via their primary care providers and avoiding the anxiety of seeing staff within specialist mental health services. It supports the National Mental Health strategy and state mental health strategy that came out of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental health services” – Dr Chidambaram Prakash.
