Behaviour Support Profile Nursing guideline

The Behaviour Support Profile (BSP) is a tool in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) that documents a patient’s communication needs, sensory sensitivities, and coping strategies to support safer, smoother, trauma-informed preventative care.

We've helped develop an RCH Nursing guideline to build staff understanding of the BSP in the EMR and how the tool can be used to ensure every interaction at the RCH goes smoothly, with less distress for children, young people, families, and staff.

The Nursing guideline supports staff to:

  • access and use the BSP
  • identify patient’s non-medical needs
  • proactively plan for regulation and partnership in care

Check out the guideline on the RCH webpage.
